Colour me tartan - Coral August

The bright, pink-orange tone of coral complements all skin tones, looks gorgeous with a tan and adds radiance to paler skin. Perfect for August! So how do you wear Coral?

Let the colour do the talking, use bursts of this fabulous shade to bring a little sunshine to any outfit. There are so many different shades of coral the first choice is which shade is right for you?

What to wear with Coral

If you are wearing Coral as your main colour, as a dress, top or trousers, then you don't want to detract from this with bold accessories so choose something subtle such as nude or skin colour. There are lots of lovely nude shoes around in summer so you won't struggle for choice. For evening if you can find accessories with a golden colouring or use the current trend for metallics to add even more light and sparkle to your outfit. Surprisingly brown actually also goes really well with coral and works well combined with the golden look so you can mix and match your shoes, bag and jewellery with these 2 colours.

Our fine wool stole in the Willowhill Coral shows off the blend of gold and coral beautifully. If the thought of wearing a bright colour fills you with fear then patterns such as checks and tartans are a less frightening way of introducing colour to your wardrobe.

How to use Coral at your Wedding

The orangey, peachy, pink of Coral makes it ideal for spring summer weddings, but you can also use darker shades to combine with autumn winter colours to add warmth and romance to your theme. The most obvious choice to team coral with on your big day is white or ivory. Picture the bride with ivory and coral flowers in her bouquet, the groom with an ivory waistcoat and a coral buttonhole, and simple white linen on the tables with coral napkins. Another gorgeous colour to combine with coral for summer weddings is turquoise. Tie your napkins with a Roslyn tartan ribbon to bring both colours in and use the same ribbon on your cake and in your bouquet.

Coral and Black

Combining black heels with a coral dress is staying safe but you can also create a very striking look if you go monochrome - accessorise with a black and white bag, chunky monochrome jewellery or our favourite table setting below using a black and white stripe runner with coral napkins and flowers. Stunning!
