The Wool Tartan Sash is a true staple when it comes to Burns Night as it can be worn in an array of different styles with many different outfits, so perfect if you have yet to decide what to wear for the big event but know you need some tartan. Monja has styled the Sash in two different ways, however there are many other ways that the sash can be worn, check out this blog on how to wear your tartan sash.
In our first look Monja wears the sash over her right shoulder and fastens it together at her hip with a Celtic Brooch, this style is simple for when you want a fuss free way to wear your sash. Monja has paired the Sash with a Kilted Skirt in the matching Black Watch Modern tartan and a black off the shoulder top. The perfect outfit for a bit of ceilidh dancing!
We are often asked which shoulder the sash should be worn over, so just to clarify unless you are a Lady Chief, Chieftainess, the wife of a Clan Chief or Chieftan or the wife of a colonel in the Highland Regiment, then you would always wear your sash over your right shoulder.
In the second look Monja wears the Sash in a more unusual way, however if you attend events such as Ceilidhs, Gatherings and Burns Suppers regularly then you will be well aware of this style of tying a sash. Again she wears the sash on her right shoulder, as the sash should only be worn on the left shoulder by the wife of a Clan Chief, so anyone else should wear the sash over the right shoulder. The sash is made from 100% Wool, is available in over 500 tartans and is 28cm x 228cm in dimensions, a great size for styling and makes a lovely long scarf to wear in between special event. Order your Wool Tartan Sash by January 15th to receive in time for Burn's Night.
