'O My Luve's like a red, red rose
That's newly sprung in June;
O My Luve's like the melody
That's sweetly played in tune'
- A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns
It wouldn't be a Scottish Valentine's Day without mentioning the old crooner Rabbie Burns! Notorious for his songs and poems about love and the lassies who captured his heart, we can imagine the bard had quite a few Valentines in his day. His poem 'A Red, Red Rose' is said to be based on a folk song he heard on one of his travels.
'And I see when you're loving me, I'm loving you'
- Loving You by Paolo Nutini
The modern day equivalent, fellow Scottish singer Paolo Nutini heralding from Glasgow, also has quite a few love songs in his repertoire. For example, his tune 'Loving You' and 'Last Request' were dedicated to the loves in his life.
