About the Clergy Tartan

The Clergy tartan has been described as the only occupational tartan and is the tartan worn by clerics and is sometimes called "Priest". It has a few variations, including a blue and a green version, but all true to the rule that Highland clergy should wear Highland clothing but no bright colours.

There is a link to the Clark family tartan and in Latin both "clergy" and "clark" have the same root - clericus. For this reason the Clark family have used the Clergy tartan, however today the Clark is usually a brighter version of the more muted tones of the Clergy tartan.
