There is nothing better for the soul than getting dressed up and going to see a good show at the theatre, my husband sadly would not agree with me here, but I am a big fan of a musical, especially one I can sing my heart out to, which is possibly why my husband avoids them like the plague.
We were contacted recently by Starvox Entertainment, a Canadian live entertainment company based in Toronto to make some jackets and extras for the show. The company was founded by Corey Ross, who has produced the Canadian production of Cats, one of the longest running shows in Broadway history, along with many others. Forever Plaid in contrast is a relatively young musical, first performed in 1990 and features hits of the 50s. The show is described as "heavenly", the reason being the main characters are in fact dead! The storyline involves four friends on their way to their first gig as a band, unfortunately, they don’t make it, but en route to heaven they are given one last wish, they choose unsurprisingly to perform that first and what will also be their last gig. The name of the band is the Plaids, and what we call tartan in Scotland is known as plaid in many countries including Canada and the USA, so what better choice of costume for the show than a tartan one.
A show like this requires a nice bold tartan and the Tiree Turquoise was a great choice for the lead actors jackets, with matching bow ties, cummerbunds and braces. We can't wait to see the photos!
Starvox has also presented productions featuring many famous writers and performers including Woody Harrelson, John Malkovich and Annie Lennox no less, who hails from our very own Granite City of Aberdeen.
Forever Plaid was showing at St James Theatre in London just last month and received raving reviews, we are sure its Canadian version will be as gratefully received. Break a leg!
