Plaid took the runway by storm in the Gucci men's spring summer show in Milan this week. From plaid suits to very dapper black and white tartan trousers worn with a dinner jacket and bow tie. This looks like the Menzies Black & White tartan to us. We loved the colours from Giannini's womens collection using celebrated clashes of paprika, jade and rich amethyst. Bold belts were everywhere making us even more excited about our new tartan bow belts. The first sample designs came off the cutting table this week and will be finalised and added to the website very soon! Our favourite Alexander McQueen's collection certainly made a statement. Lots of vaguely sporty silky blousons (indeed the sporty look seemed consistent across all of the collections) in tartans and stripes....sports or suits you decide! Bottega Veneta definitely went for suits but not staid or straight forward. More striking contrasting colours including brilliant white, Aegean turquoise and celadon over shirts in multicoloured pattern or bleached denim, without a hint of black. From Burberry our favourite had to be their accessories and in particular the baker-boy hats...watch this space for a funky tartan version come spring. We have just discovered a new hat maker and are planning some very special tartan creations including a fabulous trilby. Could have done with one this week in the torrential rain showers we have experienced! So thank you big name designers for some ideas and inspiration and watch out for some sneak peeks on Facebook as we start to develop our ideas!
