August is wedding month and you know how we love a good wedding here at ScotlandShop. So once you have visited our wedding category and watched our video for inspiration on how to add a touch of tartan to your wedding you need to of course choose a fabulous venue. We are lucky here in the Scottish Borders with so much choice from castles, abbeys and traditional old country houses to modern and contemporary hotels. [caption id="attachment_618" align="alignleft" width="300"]Wedderburn Castle Scottish wedding venue Wedderburn Castle[/caption] Just up the road from our offices is Wedderburn Castle where you can have the whole place to yourselves complete with ballroom and a fabulous sweeping stone staircase so you can really make an entrance. With accomodation for your guests in the castle and on the estate in picturesque cottages the Wedderburn events manager can help you arrange all the special details. Designed and constructed 1771-5 by the famous Scottish architect brothers Robert and James Adam, our favourite fact about Wedderburn Castle is that it has 365 windows, one for every day of the year. Continuing the theme of having the whole venue exclusively for you on your special day another firm favourite in the Scottish Borders is the Cringletie House Hotel near Peebles. [caption id="attachment_619" align="alignright" width="300"]Cringletie House Hotel for weddings Cringletie House Hotel[/caption] With a very personal feel and accomodation from romantic turret rooms to grander suites it is no wonder Visit Scotland have awarded them 4 stars. Cringletie (don't you love the name!) even offer an in-room spa service where you can relax and unwind before or after your big day with a variety of spa treatments provided in the privacy of your own room. Our favourite thing of course about this hotel is their new Sutherland tartan carpet. We will feature a few more of our favourite Scottish wedding venues over the coming month and would love to hear about yours. Send them in!
