The March issue has the very Scottish backdrop of castles and a fine white horse but as Amelia Jean Jones so rightly points out "Tartan isn't just for public schoolboys and Johny Rotten, you know. It's also this season's sharpest trend." Our tartan trench coat is pictured in the Patriot Modern tartan and that looks like the bold colours of the Bruce of Kinnaird tartan used by Vivienne Westwood for the other jacket. The feature gives some great advice on how to wear your tartan depending on your shape. Construction and fabric expert Marjorie Baker says prints can be more forgiving on shaplier bodies and pear shapes and "The key with plaid is to look for the dominant horizontal line." Even with a busy print like the Westwood jacket pictured above the cream line from top to bottomw keeps the shape streamlined. She advises "Go for a linie at least an inch thick - anything finer won't stand out." Fab article and good advice for all those dreaming of a tartan outfit. Call us if you need any help.
