#TartanTedUSA-Ted's Trip to the windy city

Ted had been a little quiet since Burns Night, so we were starting to get a little concerned but it turns out he was having a grand time in Nevada with theLas Vegas Celtic Society.

Ted had been keeping it secret, but it turns out he has been keeping a written journal with stories of all of the societies he has been visiting. Who better to tell you about his time in Nevada than Ted himself!

From Nevada Ted headed straight to our friends at Chicago Scots in Illinois. Chicago Scots were previously known as the Illinois St Andrews Society who were first established in 1845. Gus Noble, President of the Society hails from the same hometown as Ted, Duns in the Scottish Borders, where ScotlandShop HQ is based.

Gus took Ted on a Sightseeing tour of the Windy City, Ted's favourite landmark had to be Millennium Park, home to the famous "Bean" sculpture actually called Cloud Gate. The Cloud Gate was designed by the artist Anish Kapoorand has been within the park since 2006.

Chicago Scots also operate Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care, a campus which includes The Scottish Home and Caledonian House. The Scottish Home has enjoyed a rich tradition of enhancing lives and empowering seniors to live life with dignity.

Anna and Sarah will be following in Ted's Footsteps this June when they also head to Chicago to host a Tartan Pop Up Store and to take part in the Highland Games.

Before leaving Chicago Ted met up with the Thistle and Heather Highland Dancers during Naperville St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Whilst in Illinois Ted had to make a trip to our favourite corporate customer, Scot Forge, based in Spring Grove, Illinois and also with a plant in Wisconsin so Ted even managed to tick off another state in his journey across the USA!

ScotForgehave kindly arranged for Ted to visit two more companies with Scottish roots next week before Ted finally makes his way to New York for Tartan Week!
