Best Edinburgh Hotels, A Quick Guide
Since opening our Edinburgh shop, we’ve been fortunate enough to meet and spend time with some fantastic local businesses. As one of the most spectacular cities in the world to visit, it’s no surprise to learn that Edinburgh has some equally spectacular hotels. Together Edinburgh’s hotels host the many thousands of tourists that descend upon the city each year. It just so happens that our new shop is located near some of the best hotels that the city has to offer. With this in mind, we decided that we were more than qualified to create a list of the best Edinburgh hotels.
The Raeburn
As a hotel renovated from a Georgian family home, The Raeburn certainly looks very Edinburgh. It also boasts a prime location and its own restaurant. Learn more.
Motel One - Princes Street

Eleven Stafford Street
We were delighted to speak with Caroline Claydon, owner of Eleven Stafford Street, a gorgeous boutique townhouse around the corner from our Edinburgh shop.
Please tell us a bit about the kind of accommodation you offer, and what makes it unique?
We offer a hotel experience reimagined, where the absence of onsite staff only enhances the tranquillity of your adults-only stay. You’re greeted by a serene ambiance, with soft lighting and contemporary décor.
Our boutique townhouse offers 15 en-suite rooms with a perfect blend of classic and contemporary style, featuring beautifully appointed interiors with designer furnishings, high-end finishes, and modern amenities.
Each of our rooms has been meticulously designed with comfort and elegance in mind, from intimate and cozy doubles to our spacious signature rooms, many with spectacular views of Edinburgh’s historic New Town.
We are finalists for Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards for two categories, the Interior Design and Wee Beauty Awards.
Is there an interesting history to the townhouse? How long have you owned it and been running it as a boutique hotel?
We aren’t aware of anything particular about the history of our stunning early 19th century Georgian property. Eleven Stafford Street was officially opened to guests December 2023, so when we say it’s been newly refurbished, we mean it!
What’s your favourite spot in Edinburgh to recommend to your guests (if you can narrow it down)?
We have so many places to choose from with Edinburgh being the perfect city to visit, no matter your interests. However, Arthur’s Seat for incredible views and a work out all in one place!
For those who want to take it easy, a wander round the shops on George Street is also lovely with a few nice cocktail places to stop by on the way.
If our guests have visited Edinburgh before, we’d recommend hopping on a tram or taking a lovely riverside walk and visiting the port area of Leith where you can see the SS Britannia but also walk along the coolest neighbourhood of greater Edinburgh, visiting some of the best restaurants Scotland has to offer.
We will be opening our latest boutique, smart hotel named “John’s Place”, in Leith early next year. So watch this space!
Are your guests from the UK on a staycation or do most visit from abroad?
At Eleven Stafford Street, we welcome a diverse array of guests. While we do have a mix of visitors, the majority of our guests are from America and the UK, including those enjoying a staycation within the country.
With the increase in interest in ancestry over the last few years, have you noticed any of your guests wanting to explore their clan or Scottish heritage?
We have indeed noticed an increase in guests interested in exploring their clan or Scottish heritage. Many of our visitors are eager to connect with their ancestry and immerse themselves in the rich cultural history of Scotland. This trend has become particularly prominent in recent years, reflecting a growing interest in personal heritage and genealogy.
We must ask of course, what is your favourite tartan?
Now that’s a difficult question! Each of our rooms are named after influential people who created Edinburgh and the West End to be the city we love today, Melville, Glencairn, Walker, Moray to name but a few. So we would say the tartans that are linked to their family names as we have a lot to thank them for.
Any other good stories you’d like to add?
The restoration work of our luxury boutique townhouse has been quite the journey! In total, we spent close to £2 million to restore our gorgeous townhouse.
