2023 marks the Chinese Year of the Rabbit. Chinese New Year in Edinburgh has become the largest celebration of its kind in Scotland. Since its inception in 2019, it has been coordinated by Edinburgh Tourism Action Group (ETAG) as part of its China Ready initiative, generously supported by Heriot-Watt University.
During the festival visit our Edinburgh store at 10 Queensferry Street to discover the Chinese-Scottish tartan, designed to symbolise the co-operation and harmony that exists between Chinese & Scottish people worldwide.
The Chinese Scottish tartan features the colours of the Scottish Saltire together with the red and yellow of the Chinese Flag. Green stripes were incorporated in celebration of the Scottish and Chinese botanists in the Botanic Gardens of Edinburgh which is home to the world’s largest collection of Chinese plants outside China itself. The yellow stripes cross the red background in five places signifying the five stars of the Chinese Flag.
