On this page you'll find all the relevant tartan fabric information categorised by product type. Unless you are an experienced seamstress or upholsterer it can be a bit mind boggling choosing the right plaid fabric. The most important question to answer is what do you want to use your plaid cloth for? Below we have listed some of our customer's favorite upholstery projects and suggested the most suitable plaid fabric weights for your upholstery task, whether it's a footstool or sofa, or an old arm chair with history. Almost all of our fabrics are pure wool and this has many advantages for upholstery. Available in many different weights, our heavier weight fabrics (choose anything above 13oz) are hard wearing enough to upholster to commercial standards, with the added bonus that wool is naturally fire resistant to domestic standards and we can of course treat it for you if you need more than this. With over 500 tartans and tweeds to choose from you are spoilt for choice, and samples are available to order online or in store so you can check colours and quality before you purchase.
