グレートキルト（Feileadh mòr）は13世紀のウィリアム・ウォレスに遡るものではない。 おそらく500年以上前の16世紀に、タータンチェックの衣服が今日のグレートキルトのような形になり始めたのである。

ゲール語で「大きな巻き物」と訳されるグレート・キルトは、もともとは手作業でプリーツを入れた未完成の布地でした。 毛布やレインカバー、マントにもなる。

布が長ければ長いほど、プリーツは深くなり、うねりも大きくなりますが、必要な布の量はウエストのサイズにも影響されます。 長さの選択肢には、ウエストの目安が記載されていますが、ウエストの目安より少ない注文はお勧めできませんし、ウエストの目安より多い注文も可能です。

チートプリーツとは何ですか？

    本来のフェイリー・モー（グレートキルト）は、端を保護するための基本的な裾処理を除けば、縫い目がない平らな一枚布であった。キルト背面のプリーツは、着用時に布を重ね合わせることで形成された。この作業には数分を要し、理想的には布の両側に一人ずつ、計二人が必要となる。

    チートプリーツはグレートキルトの布地中央に縫い付けられており、手作業でプリーツを作る必要がありません。プリーツ作成の手間を省ける便利さを好む着用者もいれば、何世紀も前から変わらない形でグレートキルトを着用することを好み、プリーツ作りをグレートキルト衣装を着る体験の一部と捉える人もいます。
