ツイードにはどのような用途がありますか？

    主にオーダーメイドのアウトドアウェアに使用されますが、クッションやスローなどのインテリア用生地としても利用できます。ScotlandShopで人気のツイード製品には、キルトジャケットやキルトスカート、そして当店のツイードキャップなどがあります。 キルトジャケット  キルトスカート、ツイードの帽子。 

「ツイード」と「タータン」の違いは何ですか？

    ツイードは、厚手で風合いのある生地で、伝統的に屋外での使用や防寒用に用いられてきました。アースカラーを基調とした混色で織り上げられ、素材は100％ウールです。一方、タータンは、伝統的にはスコットランドの氏族を表す特定の柄ですが、現在では氏族とは関係のないタータンも数多く存在します。タータンは、はるかに滑らかな生地で、ドレープがかけやすいのが特徴です。

ツイードは一体どこから来たのでしょうか？

     その起源は18世紀初頭のスコットランドとアイルランドにあります。この生地は太い羊毛で織られ、寒く湿気の多い冬に体を温めるため、農民や羊飼いが着用していました。その後、ツイードは広く知られるようになり、野外での狩猟や釣りに使われるようになりました。ツイードに関する詳細については、当ブログの以下のページをご覧ください「ツイードとは何か」

ツイードは耐水性がありますか？

    軽い雨や短時間の雨には高い耐水性を発揮し、水は生地の上を玉となって流れ落ちます。ただし、完全な防水性があるわけではなく、激しい雨の中で着用すると、最終的には水が染み込んでしまいます。生地は自然乾燥のみにし、湿っている間は吊るして乾かしてください。
