Choosing a wedding venue is not an easy task and there are an awful lot of things to take into consideration. Do you have the ceremony in the hotel to make it nice and easy, or if not is the transfer from Church or elsewhere a simple one? Will the food be absolutely delicious? Is the dance floor big enough? Are there rooms for guests to stay or more to the point is the bridal suite pure luxury and extravangance? Oh yes and how much will it all cost?
All of this makes me quite glad I am already married, very simply under the big tree in my parents garden. We loved it but looking back it actually created a huge amount of work to make everything look beautiful on the day, not to mention the stress worrying about the weather. So having everything in one lovely venue like the Hotel Du Vin seems quite attractive. Tickets to the Wedding Showcase are free so you have little to lose.
Of course St Andrews does offer some additional benefits, most famous for golf which is handy for bored uncles on the morning of the wedding, but also coastal (you can see the sea from the hotel!) which makes for some stunning photography opportunities. Not to mention a romantic stroll along the sands to clear your head the next morning. If you are looking for some heritage in the background then the castle ruins are perfect and you can even have your ceremony there if you wish. St Andrews lies on the Eden Estuary, a haven for bird watchers but also home to one of my favourite things in St Andrews, Eden Mill gin, perfect for a tour and tasting for the wedding party the night before.
We specialise in the finishing touches that make your day extra special, the tartan handfast to bind your hands at the ceremony, shoes for the bride custom made in her new family tartan, waistcoats for the wedding party to tie in with the groom's kilt, or a cute little kilt for the page boy. There is nothing more personal than using something that belongs to a family, or links to a memory or special location and we love the stories our customers tell us about why they have incorporated tartan into their wedding.
