What a weekend we had at the Your Wedding Exhibition event in Aberdeen! It's been lovely to see vendors and visitors alike and sneak a peak of our garments in the runway show. If you couldn't make it don't worry, we have you covered with the exhibition highlights!
It was probably dangerous to send two unmarried members of staff away and allow us to fill our heads with dreams. Now that Amy and I have had an opportunity to recover from our weekend in Aberdeen, we've prepared a list of our favourite stands at this years Your Wedding Exhibition.
THE CAKES
It's no secret that we love a bit of cake at ScotlandShop and this one really caught our eye! Couture Wedding Cakes by Sweetcheeks Ltd can hand paint or print a tartan of choice onto icing for your dream cake. Other ways to incorporate tartan into your cake design would be adding some Tartan Ribbon or one of our Tartan Brooches for decoration.
THE FLOWERS
Artemisia Floral Art made the most beautiful rustic floral archway for her stand, showcasing her carefully selected hand dried flowers and tartan style cloth. We think this would make the perfect altar to exchange those all important vows. You could even use a matching Handfasting Ribbon to tie the knot.
THE DRESSES
Midnight Elegance were runners up for best stand design last year and this year deservedly took the top spot with their elegant detailed dresses and green and gold tropical themed display using real potted plants. They were very on trend with their sustainable stand design. You can read more about these trends in last week's blog.
THE VENUES
The recently refurbished Ardoe House Hotel and Spa offers a picturesque venue for your wedding, just 3 miles outside of Aberdeen city centre. We particularly love their thistle wallpaper, (pictured below) which we are reliably told can be seen throughout their bar. And no.. we unfortunately didn't manage to hook a duck on the day.
THE CELEBRANTS
Choosing who will officiate your wedding is an often underrated, but very important, part of your wedding planning. Our stand neighbours at ceremonies.scot were great fun and really focus on making sure your ceremony is specifically tailored to you. Most importantly they are experts when it comes to Handfasting Ceremonies! If you are not familiar with this Celtic tradition we explore the story in a previous post.
THE MUSICIANS
We have been getting to know the ladies and gents of Thistle Piping over the last two years. We love their style and hearing them demonstrate their piping skills. We appreciate a female entrepreneur at ScotlandShop and their Pipe Major Julie started the business herself in 1999, while competing and tutoring at various venues. Their Stewart Black Tartan Curtains are also the envy of many a vendor. You can steal their style here.
And to complete our table display the lovely Patrina from Blooming Gorgeous created us a small display to compliment the Taylor Ancient Tartan Tableware.
Lucky visitors who caught our runway segment were also treated to a sneak peak of some of our new Spring Range including our new Musselburgh Tartan stock range and some very swish Tweed Finish Tartan Kilts. For further updates, keep an eye on our blog and social media.
While the exhibition is now over, that doesn't mean your window to talk tartan wedding themes has closed. You can visit us in our Edinburgh Store or one of our various Pop Up Services in London, America or Canada this year by dropping in or booking an appointment. Or you can give us a call if you need a little guidance on +44 1890 860770.
