Red, white and blue tartan for Jubilee Weekend

It's Diamond Jubilee weekend and as the great British empire decorates itself in red, white and blue and celebrates the Queen's 60 year reign on the throne we thought we should add a little colour to our blog. A Jubilee tartan has been designed and will be available very soon but in the interim the Edinburgh tartan seemed a good place to start! The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will be joined by the Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry for Tuesday's procession. The procession is one of the final events of the Jubilee celebrations and will involve 2,000 servicemen and women including members of the armed forces and the Household Division. Watch out for disruption in London between Westminster Hall and Buckingham Palace as they run through rehearsals today! Pomp and pageantry to the fore with the procession including the 1902 state landau carriage - used by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on their wedding day. Will they have a tartan rug in the back as spotted on the last outing? We think it should be a Help for Heroes one.

Celebrations will take place across the country starting with the Queen's visit to the races to watch the Epsom Derby on Saturday. On Sunday the captains and crew of more than 1,000 boats will sail along the River Thames in a flotilla. On Monday 4 June 2012 there will be a star-studded concert, set against the spectacular backdrop of Buckingham Palace, celebrating Her Majesty the Queen's 60 year reign. Gary Barlow will be there (Sarah here in the office might not be able to contain herself!). All we want to know is will he be wearing his signature tweed suit?

The extra holiday and long weekend is a great excuse for everyone to get together and have some fun. So get your tartan picnic rugs out and join in the big Jubilee picnic! We are closed on Monday and on Tuesday we have limited staff on duty but we will be around to answer your phonecalls and emails.
