Musselburgh Tartan Ted

For those of you not familiar with Musselburgh Racecourse, this 5-star visitor attraction just 6 miles from Edinburgh city centre is a great day out whatever the time of year.New Year's day is a very special day and features not only horse racing but also hosts one of the most historic athletic events in the world, the New Year Sprint.

Musselburgh Racecourse

This will be the 149th time this race has been run, held annually in Scotland on or around New Year's Day since 1870. The prize money is £4000, the race is over 110m and the athletes are both amateur and professional with a handicap starting system, so no excuses this is a race you could enter next year whatever your age, sex or ability. Cameron Tindle was only 16 when he won in 2015 and Greg Kelly of East Kilbride AC was last year's winner.

The theme of the day is a touch of tartan and we look forward to judging the best turned out with the lucky winners receiving their own Musselburgh tartan teddy named Hector and 2 tickets to the Scottish Spring Cup Raceday in June.

Musselburgh tartan ties are available in the 10 Queensferry Street shop and all sorts of other tartan brooches, scarves and accessories to make your tartan attire the finest on the course.
