Plaid knickers for the true gentleman of the countryside or golf course. We use a pure wool fabric woven in Scotland to make your plus four knickers so we can offer them in over 500 Scottish clan plaids. Our plaid knickers fours close at the knee with velcro adjustable so they are comfortable and won't limit your golf swing or stride through the heather.

Luxury Merino Wool Socks are also available to wear with your plaid knickers.
 

So where do plus fours get their name? To make them an extra four inches of plaid fabric is needed to fold over below the knee!

- Standard length inside leg 60cm/23.5 inches

- Standard hem width with adjustable velcro fastening 35.5cm/14 inches. If you have powerful calves please select a bigger size from the drop down.

- For the thigh measurement, please measure around your thigh at the widest point.

- Fully lined both sides to the bottom 

We use a lightweight wool as standard so if you want your plus fours for hunting or shooting rather than the golf course, please select our heavyweight 16oz fabric. Heavier weight fabrics are slightly more expensive, the price will adjust automatically once you have made your selection.

What are Plaid Plus Fours used for?

    A pair of trousers that finish just below the knee and are designed for outdoor sports, but are also used for hunting and hiking. Our range of plus fours are used widely for golfing as they are light and breathable and allow you full freedom of your swing. 

What can I wear with my Plus Fours

    Plaid plus fours are typically worn with a shirt and a lightweight crew neck sweater, creating a comfortable, practical outfit for the golf course or wherever you chose to wear them. As well as this a pair of wool socks are the perfect length to wear with your trousers as they reach to where your trousers end in order to keep you warm. If you are looking for the full effect you could also attach to your socks a pair of flashes.

What is the 2 finger rule for fitting trousers?

    In order for your Tartan trousers to be the perfect fit around your waist a tailoring technique is to try and attempt to fit two fingers between your body and the waistband of your trousers. If you can do so without a struggle and the trousers are not too lose then they are the correct size.

Which pair of Plus Fours are right for me?

    We have a variety of tartan plus fours with a huge range of tartans to chose from. The tartan you may be looking for could be related to a specific clan or family. To find the correct tartan for your clan simply enter your name into our tartan finder. Plus fours in our tweed style can also be made to order.

If you need your items for a specific date please note this on your order within the ‘Order Notes’ section once you have added the item to your shopping basket.

Returns Process

We hope you love your parcel from Scotland; however, we do understand that sometimes you might need to return or exchange items.

For stock products we have a 30 day, no quibble return policy, this also applies to sale items and in store purchases. Items must be unworn, with labels attached. Simply fill in the authorisation form and we will confirm the address for you to send it back to us.

Custom made or personalised goods are non-returnable unless the item is faulty or made to incorrect measurements. You must give us the opportunity to adjust, repair or replace faulty or incorrect items before you can claim a refund. We are also unable to accept returns on cut lengths of fabric and we advise ordering swatches prior to ordering large quantities of fabric if you want to check colours and quality.
