Made to order from the finest authentic plaid fabric, woven in Scotland, our plaid Gathered Skirt is made from one piece of rectangular fabric, gathered in at the waist to make a gentle pleat effect. Length is variable, according to your specific requirements, fabric width is set to provide ease of movement and comfort when sitting down - the result is a beautiful skirt with a flared silhouette. The skirt is fully lined, with a button & hidden zip fastening on the hip. There is also the option to add a pocket to the opposite hip.

What can I wear with my plaid gathered skirt?

    The plaid gathered skirt can be worn with a variety of clothing. A simple but cosy option is an Asymmetrical Cable Aran Cardigan as shown in one of the photos above, perfect for warmth and style. Plaid accessories to match your skirt could be the finishing touch you’re looking for. A wool stole, available in over 1000 tartans, would look fabulous with your gathered skirt. As for shoes we would highly recommend a pair of plaid boots or kitten heels. 

How do I make sure this gathered skirt is the perfect fit for me?

    If “In Stock” sizes aren’t right for you we have our “Made to Order” option where you can enter in the exact measurements. As well as this we have guides next to where you select your size. If you would prefer help from a tartan expert, we take appointments virtually and in store, where they will take your measurements for you. With a range of over 500 tartans to pick from you can make sure it is the perfect gathered skirt for you.

What wool weight is best for the gathered skirt?

    When choosing made to order, some skirts will only have a specific weight available to select. If you are given a few more options then it depends on what you are looking for. If you would prefer a light skirt that has more drape, a 10oz weight or near to this would be perfect. For a much thicker feel and heavier weight that keeps you warm, a 14oz or 16oz is what you would need. Can the gathered skirt be worn for formal and informal occasions?

    The gathered skirt can be worn at any event. Although it is more likely to be worn at informal gatherings there is no rule against it being used formally. The difference between formal and informal occasions is becoming less distinct than in previous years. We recommend you wear this skirt wherever you feel comfortable as it’s always a beautiful choice.

Approximate make-up time on Custom Made items are listed on the product page above the ‘Add to Basket’ button. If you need your items for a specific date please note this on your order within the ‘Order Notes’ section once you have added the item to your shopping basket.

Returns Process

We hope you love your parcel from Scotland; however, we do understand that sometimes you might need to return or exchange items.

For stock products we have a 30 day, no quibble return policy, this also applies to sale items and in store purchases. Items must be unworn, with labels attached. Simply fill in the authorisation form and we will confirm the address for you to send it back to us.

Custom made or personalised goods are non-returnable unless the item is faulty or made to incorrect measurements. You must give us the opportunity to adjust, repair or replace faulty or incorrect items before you can claim a refund. We are also unable to accept returns on cut lengths of fabric and we advise ordering swatches prior to ordering large quantities of fabric if you want to check colours and quality.
