Throughout February we have been celebrating all things Clan MacNab. We have met some famous faces, visited many sites, and gained great insight into the history of this ancient clan. Finally, we called upon the valued Clan members to share their stories and we have had some lovely responses; read the blog to find out more!

We received this great photo from Suzanne, who incorporated the MacNab Modern Tartan on her Christmas table.

Suzanne used a MacNab Modern table runner in the centre of the table, the red of the tartan certainly helps with the festive feel.

Chief Jamie Macnab of Macnab's Grandfather

We had the pleasure of sitting down for an interview with Chief Jamie Macnab of Macnab, he shared what it has been like to be chief and the impact it has had in his life. You can read the full interview with Jamie Macnab here.

During the interview Jamie shared a great story about his Grandfather, James Macnabb. James was an Olympic rower in the 1920's after giving up being the MacNab Clan Chief.

"In terms of my grandfather, he lived in London (having given up the Chiefship in favour of my great uncle and then my father) and only visited Scotland occasionally.   Winning a gold medal at the Olympics was not such a big thing in 1924 but he enjoyed the attention later in his life.  There is a slightly amusing follow up story.  The Leander Club in Henley very kindly hosted a centenary lunch for the relatives of the 1924 Olympians. I went with my family. There were gold medals on display from two others in the four but no sign of Grandpa’s, which we thought had been donated to the club.  They said they had never received.  We challenged them on this, making us rather poor guests for accusing them of losing it.  When we got home my wife checked through an old box in our hall cupboard and found the gold medal which we (and my parents) never realised we had.  It is now treasured amongst other Macnab memorabilia.”

Unfortunately February has come to an end, that certainly doesn't mean our love for Clan MacNab is over, so be sure to get in touch with us if you fancy chatting all things MacNab!
