We have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about Clan Lindsay throughout January, but most of all we have loved reading all the incredible stories from our customers who are members of the Clan. We have picked out our favourites and collated them for you all to appreciate as much as we did.

Clan Lindsay Stories from around the world

Lovely Lindsay Weddings

We love a good wedding and our first story is from the beautiful Jennifer Lindsay, who was recently married and made sure to include as much Lindsay tartan into her outfit as she could! We are so impressed by the colour co-ordination right down to the bouquet and two tone Converse ready for dancing the night away.

“One is a picture of the Lindsay seal tattoo I have on my right forearm, which constantly brings me strength and courage. The other is my wedding dress, which combined our Lindsay tartan colors in the petticoat, in my tartan kitten heels, in my garter belt, and my Converse shoes for the reception! Enjoy.”

Lindsay Namesake

The next story we have to share is from Lindsay, who was named after her father’s mother, whose maiden name was Lindsay! And who can resist his cute dog in his tartan scarf.

“I carry that family history with affection and pride. I love the ancestral, international, migrant connection my name offers. The first summer I lived in New York City, I spent a few hours at Ellis Island visiting with my grandmother, trekking the grounds where her father and my fellow namesake had arrived as a child. I would think about this relative I never met as I achieved professional, artistic, and personal successes — could he have dreamed that his great-granddaughter would thrive here like this? Maybe it was exactly what he and his parents imagined as we all stared out at the same waters and skyline. I was thrilled to find out later that the Lindsay name also came with swag options! I prefer the traditional tartan for my skirt, scarf, and cape. For my dad’s 60th birthday, I bedecked him in all the Lindsay regalia I could, so three generations carry our Lindsay history through both given names and a few happy accessories in the closet. I’m still trying to convince Grandma to make a pilgrimage to Scotland with me… maybe this will help”

Lindsay Clan Crest Badge

When Diana discovered we were celebrating Lindsay as our Clan of the Month she made sure to hunt out her Lindsay Clan Crest Badge to wear with pride during the celebrations.

Maureen's Pipe Band Story

During our celebrations Emily sat down with Maureen Conner, director of the Capital District Youth Pipe Band. This pipe band have very special connections with the Lindsay Clan as they use the Lindsay tartan as their official band uniform. They decided to use this tartan to honour Alexander Lindsay Glen; to learn where this connection first began tune in to the interview. If you are still curious about Alexander, you are in luck as Kalyn explored his story on the tartan blog, check it out here.

Graeme Lindsay with his Uisge Source Collection

One of the most interesting Lindsay stories we came across this month, was the story of Graeme Lindsay, founder of Uisge Source (pronounced 'oosh-guh'). Graeme has been in the whisky industry for over 15 years now, working for two influential companies in the industry - Glenmorangie and Whyte and Mackay. During his long and successful career he realised there was a key gap in the market, and what a difference the right water could make to your favourite dram. And so Uisge Source was born, The Drop that Makes the Dram’ is very special bottled water to add to your whisky, and the company even suggests the perfect pairings where the water used to make the whisky comes from the same region as your bottled water. Now, almost ten years after it's inception there are three different bottles available and they are sold in 15 countries around the world. This is what Graeme had to say about his love of Whisky:

"Whisky began as work when I was employed as Director of Marketing for Glenmorangie and Ardbeg. It quickly became and still is a passion. I remember buying a bottle of Glenmorangie 10 YO and Ardbeg 10YO ahead of my interview. I enjoyed the Glenmorangie but wondered how on earth anyone could drink Ardbeg. It's now one of my favourite malts. I strongly believe that enjoying whisky is an entirely personal experience, there are no rules. When asked, I will always encourage drinkers to experiment their personal preferences."
