Established in 1870, the Blackford Highland Games are one of Perthshire’s longest-standing Highland gatherings, welcoming visitors from across the world to experience an authentic celebration of Scottish culture in the heart of rural Scotland. Held in the picturesque Kier & Cawdor Games Park in the village of Blackford, the games are packed with all the traditions you would expect from a classic Highland day out.
Expect the stirring sound of pipe bands, impressive heavyweight competitions including tossing the caber and throwing the hammer, alongside highland dancing, athletics and plenty of entertainment for all ages. Surrounded by the beautiful Perthshire countryside, the games offer a wonderful opportunity to soak up Scottish heritage and community spirit.
This year, the games are honoured to welcome Susan Jardine-Paterson of Gask Estate as Chieftain. With deep roots in rural Scotland and a passion for community, tradition and the outdoors, Susan embodies the spirit of the Blackford Highland Games and the warm welcome visitors can expect on the day.
As a founding member of the now Royal Scottish Highland Games Association, the Blackford Highland Games proudly continue over 150 years of tradition while celebrating the culture, history and hospitality that make Scotland so special.
