Your Guide to Finding the Perfect Fabric for Car Upholstery
Unless you are an experienced seamstress or upholsterer it can be a bit mind boggling choosing the right tartan fabric. The most important question to answer is what do you want to use your tartan material for? Below we have listed some of our customer's favourite Car Upholstery projects and suggested the most suitable tartan fabric weights for each purpose. If you are still confused please do not hesitate to contact us.
Almost all of our fabrics are pure wool and this has many advantages for car upholstery. Available in many different weights, our heavier weight fabrics (choose anything above 13oz) are hard wearing enough to cope with many years of jumping in and out of your vintage or modern vehicle, and we can of course treat the fabric to be waterproof or stain proof if you need this (minimum order will apply). For a more cost effective and hard wearing solution our Polyviscose Fabric is also a great option. With over 500 Scottish plaids and tweeds to choose from you are spoilt for choice, and samples are available to order online or in store so you can check colors and quality before you purchase. And don't forget if you need a matching cap or neck tie for the driver, or a blanket for the back seat, these can all be made to match your car upholstery!
