Exceptionally elegant, and super flattering the plaid 'Kate' Coat, was inspired by the Princess of Wales herself, Kate Middleton and is one of our best-selling products. We make our jackets in US size 4 to 20 (UK size 8 to 24) so we can cater for petite and plus sizes. When ordering a custom-made coat, any additional information on your shape and size is always welcome to help us adapt the patterns to suit you. If you have a larger bust size and smaller waist, please select the correct size to fit your bust and provide us with a waist measurement so we can ensure it is nipped in to show off your curves. If you are more pear shaped, then again please select the correct size for your bust and give us a waist and hip measurement and your jacket will be cut accordingly.

For the most accurate measurements, use a tailors tape measure and have a friend or family member measure for you. Ensure that you stand tall and relaxed while getting measurements taken.
Waist - Measure around the body at the natural waist. Ensure the tape measure is straight across the front and back of the body.
Chest - Measure around the widest part of the bust. Please note this is a different measurement to a bra size, and so the bust measurement should not be taken from a bra label. Ensure the tape measure is straight across the front and back of the body.

The Fabric
We use a top quality lightweight 10oz plaid fabric woven in Scotland to make your Kate Coat. If you want a heavier weight coat to wear in winter, we can also use a 13oz or 16oz wool. A small surcharge will apply for heavier fabrics.

Buying a beautifully tailored item created from Scottish cloth is creating a classic piece for your wardrobe that will look good for years. Our coats are made from a lightweight wool woven in Scotland, fully lined and beautifully finished. You can customise lots of details if you wish. See below for all the options!
The Detail
Your Kate Coat is already an original as you choose the plaid and we tailor it to your measurements. But the fun doesn't end there and you can request so many details to make your coat even more special. You can choose the colour of your lining. Be bold and go for a contrast colour or take a more sedate co-ordinating colour to suit the occasion. Buttonhole stitching can be emphasised to match a stripe or check. Button colours will match the base colour as standard or you can select any colour you like. Your plaid jacket is not only made to measure but also made to your specification. Your jacket is made to measure just for you and you can choose from over 500 Scottish clan plaids. If you can't find the one you are looking for please ask as we may be able to source it for you.
How to Care for your Plaid Coat
Properly cared for your coat will last for years. This is a pure wool fabric and should be dry cleaned only. Wool fabric can become dull with general dust and dirt. Gentle brushing with a garment brush will brighten it up again.
