While we adore learning all about clan history, from castles to battles and beyond, what we love most is hearing the stories of heritage and adventure from the clan members themselves, especially when it involves tartan! Today, we're taking a look at some of the beautiful ways in which Clan MacGregor members around the have been celebrating their Scottish heritage.
Sydney Bagpipes
Richard MacGregor
Richard is a member of the Clan Gregor Society, and he got in touch to tell us all about the Sydney Bagpipers, a bagpiping group he is a member of. Richard has been playing the pipes since he was 13 years old, he has played for the New Zealand Scottish Regiment and he has even played for the Royal family, in front of Her Majesty the Queen! Since Richard is a MacGregor, he wears the MacGregor Modern tartan in his piping uniform. Doesn't he look fantastic?

MacGregor Weddings
The new Mr & Mrs Stubbs
Dione was married last November, and wore our Wool Tartan and Faux Fur Stole in MacGregor Modern for the occasion, while her husband wore a full kilt outfit in the matching tartan, so she sent us a picture from their special day, don't they make a beautiful couple? We wish the newly married couple a lifetime of happiness!
MacGregors in New Zealand
When our lovely customer, Alan, found out we would be celebrating the MacGregors in December he knew he needed to share his wife's story. So his wife's mother, so Alan's Mother in Law, was a MacGregor and she arrived in New Zealand in 1850. Alan's wife now proudly wears a Skirt and Tam in the MacGregor Ancient tartan, to honour her Scottish and MacGregor heritage. They actually recently visited Scotland to visit the graves of his wife's family, and they had a very atmospheric trip. We would love to hear your MacGregor heritage stories, so be sure to send them in!
Discover Clan MacGregor
If you would like to discover more about this strong and famous Clan, Amy and Emily took to the ScotlandShop Sofa to explore it all, from the origins right through to the modern day Clan. Let us know what you thought of our final On the Sofa of the year.
The Story of Doddie'5 Dream
During our celebrations we had the pleasure of speaking to Bruce MacGregor, a man with a multitude of talents! An exceptionally skilled fiddler and member of the Blazin Fiddles, Bruce has made a name for himself as quite the musician, he decided to use his talents to raise money and wrote the song Doddie's Dream, in order to raise money for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, watch the interview to discover more about his MacGregor heritage and story behind the famous song.
We have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the MacGregor's throughout December, and just because our celebrations have come to an end doesn't mean our love for the Clan has. So if you want to chat all things MacGregor, or any other Clan for the matter, be sure to get in touch.
