We have spent November celebrating Clan Stewart and the huge number of tartans this clan has to choose from. It is very difficult to select just a few Stewart tartans to style this month, but here are some of my favourites and how to add them to your wardrobe and your home for winter!
First, we must start with the most iconic of the tartans – Stewart Royal coat to see you through the cold months, adding touches of black velvet for a timeless take on your outerwear.
A beautifully tailored jacket in the bold red tartan with a black velvet collar and flap pockets will make a statement at any festive event. Keep the red theme through the lining and consider gold metal buttons to make the jacket stand out. Pair with a simple black dress and heels.
Alternatively, a stunning cable knit scarf to tone the tartan down and keep you cosy throughout winter.
Another trend to consider this season is the mini skirt. Glamour.co.uk says;
“Nothing screams post-lockdown fashion quite like the thigh-skimming mini, which is why even those who are only tentatively re-emerging into society will be tempted by it next season.”
To keep your mini skirt looking classically Scottish, choose a cable knit sweater ideal for keeping the chill at bay.
Glamour.co.uk offers an alternative colour scheme to winter brights which is idea for menswear this year;
“If punchy, bold colours aren't your thing and you're into the more subdued, low-key end of the shade spectrum, it'd be wise to swap your whites and creams for moodier browns next season. Mix your shades and ensure no other colours creep in for full marks in this trend.”
This is an easy trend to take into your accessories, combining shades of brown with existing camel, tan and brown garments already in your wardrobe. A otter cashmere gloves and beanie hat. Finish off your subdued look with a pair of tan brogues – perfect for any occasion.
An alternative look to inject some colour into your wardrobe this season is to opt for a Stewart Black Modern knee length coat. This tartan keeps the colours of the Stewart tartan restrained and easy to wear with a black base. An overcoat in the Stewart Black will pair with a simple black suit for work effortlessly and can be accessorised with a long Stewart scarf draped around the neck will complete your winter look.
As we are well into November, if you’re anything like me you will be desperate to start decorating your thanksgiving or Christmas tables with a well thought out festive theme, and Stewart Royal is the best way to make an impact! I love to pair a tartan hearts even make the perfect name settings for your guests if you add name embroidery, and you can alternate between the Black Watch and Stewart Royal to keep your theme going throughout. A few red pillar candles placed on the table and a floral centrepiece with plenty of greenery will add the finishing touches.
Whether you’re adding Stewart tartans into your wardrobe or home, we would love to see how you style them so be sure to send us your pictures!
