When you think of Scotland, you think of the plaid kilt and our women's plaid Mini Kilt is a firm favourite, with its girly above the knee style and plenty of fabric so the pleats follow every movement. We use a beautiful quality lightweight pure wool plaid fabric woven in the Scottish Borders and traditional methods to make up the finished mini kilt. Adjustable leather straps and buckles complete this authentic look.
As standard our mini kilts are made in UK Size 8-18 (US size 4-14), however they can be custom made in any size. Please note that sizes above a waist 36 inch (91.5cm) will carry a small surcharge. Stock plaid mini kilts are made to a standard length of 18 inches (45.5cm). You can have your Mini Kilt as short as you like and up to 18 inches (46cm) long. For a longer length kilt choose the Kilted Skirt.

For the most accurate measurements, use a tailors tape measure and have a friend or family member measure for you. Ensure you have nothing in any of your pockets and that you stand tall and relaxed while getting measurements taken.
Waist - Measure around the body at the position you would like the skit waistband to sit. Ensure the tape measure is straight across the front and back of the body.
Seat- Measure around the widest part of the bottom, ensuring the tape measure is straight across the front and back of the body.
Length - Measure from the desired skirt waist, down to the desired length of the skirt.

The Fabric
We use a soft, lightweight 10oz wool fabric woven in Scotland to make your tartan Mini Kilt. This fabric will last forever if cared for correctly and is the perfect weight to create that swing that makes a pleated skirt or kilt look and feel so good.
Making your Kilt
Buying a tailored tartan skirt or kilt is creating a family heirloom that can be handed down from generation to generation. Our tartan Mini Kilt is a long standing favourite and is a great combination of traditional Scottish manufacturing and a modern cut and style. Our kilts are all traditionally made in Scotland with all the trappings of a high quality finish including 2 leather straps and buckles on the waist and one on the hip, fringed front apron and nice deep pleats for a great swing.
The Length
You can have your tartan Mini Kilt as short as you like and up to 18 inches (46cm) long. Stock Mini Kilts are made to the 18 inch length. For a longer length kilt choose the Kilted Skirt.

We have a limited range of stock tartans available or we can make your Mini Kilt to measure for you and you can choose from over 500 Scottish clan plaids. If you can't find the one you are looking for please ask as we may be able to source it for you.
How to care for your Plaid Mini Kilt
Properly cared for your Mini Kilt will last for generations. This is a pure wool fabric and should be dry cleaned only. Wool fabric can become dull with general dust and dirt. Gentle brushing with a garment brush will brighten it up again.
