Haggis Hunt: the Hunter's Lot

Haggis Hunt

This, I am sad to say is the last video in the current series of Haggis Hunt videos, our restoration department claims that the technology to repair the rest of the video tapes does not yet exist. There is still a great deal of tape left over from what Auryn found so, hopefully one day in the not too distant future, the technology to restore the remaining tape will be developed, until that day, we can take comfort in the five episodes we have managed to restore and you as a viewer can take comfort in watching them again and sharing them with your friends.

The Hunter's Lot

This episode deals with the fact that hunting is not always successful. Yes, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, the two boys in our videos have failed to catch a haggis but, much like the hunters of old, or the fishermen of today, the two boys comfort themselves with stories. The story they relate to the presenter is unique to the local area but that such a story exists in the area is not unique, Scotland is full to bursting with stories handed down through the generations. See what you think of the boys' story here:

Bring Your Heritage to Life

As silly as the boys' story may seem to modern ears, humans have always been story tellers. The most basic stories are used to teach lessons to children, think about Aesop's fables or Grimm's faerie tales. In these fairy tales, when you scrape away the supernatural you are usually left with a clear, useful message. The message in the boys' story teaches them not to stay out on the moors after dark but the message we as modern viewers get from these videos is not to forget your heritage.

If you want to keep from forgetting your Scottish heritage, we have a range of products that will help you weave that heritage into your modern life.
