This year you can make it all the more special by giving Christmas a Scottish touch with our magnificent luxury tartan stocking. With over 500 tartans to choose from, it is a lovely personal addition to your fireplace this festive season. 

As standard we will use a red lining for your stocking but you can choose a green or blue lining if this is better suited to the tartan selected.

The faux fur at the top of this stocking means that we cannot embroider it.  If you'd like embroidery on your stocking you'll need our standard Christmas stocking.

How do I look after my Christmas stocking?

    Your stocking is made from 100% wool so you are unable to machine wash it. If your stocking has a little surface dirt that can be easily removed, simply brush it lengthwise using a soft garment brush. If your stocking gets slightly wet, we recommend air-drying it, out of direct sunlight, at room temperature on a clean towel. If your stocking is past brushing and needs cleaning, please take it to a dry cleaner to get it professionally cleaned.

Which tartan should I use for my stocking?

    If you have a specific clan or tartan you are looking for, simply search for it using our Tartan and Clan Finder which will give you all the tartan variants under a specific surname. You do not need to have a Scottish surname to be able to use and wear tartan and there are many district or more generic Scottish tartans on the tartan and clan finder There are only a very few tartans that cannot be used, such as the Balmoral Tartan that is reserved exclusively for members of the Royal family. 

What is the difference between the Luxury stocking and the original?

    Although both these stockings are tartan, the original tartan Christmas stocking features a solid colour, polyester cuff that you can personalise by having it embroidered with your name, a date, initials, etc. The luxury stocking has a lovely faux fur cuff in grey, so it is unable to be embroidered. Select your own tartan to give a special personal touch to your decorations! 

Where does the holiday tradition of using stockings originate?

    This festive tradition has taken place in people’s homes for centuries, and is due to a famous legend, which goes as far as back as the 4th century, about St Nicholas. It was said that he secretly helped a poor man afford his three daughters’ marriage dowries by dropping bags of gold down his chimney, the gold fell down the chimney and miraculously landed in the daughters’ stockings that were hanging by the fire to dry. Because of this, children used to put their own woolen socks by the fire in the hope of receiving presents in them.

Returns Process 

We hope you love your parcel from Scotland; however, we do understand that sometimes you might need to return or exchange items.

For stock products we have a 30 day, no quibble return policy, this also applies to sale items and in store purchases. Items must be unworn, with labels attached. Simply fill in the authorisation form here we will confirm the address for you to send it back to us.

Custom made or personalised goods are non-returnable unless the item is faulty or made to incorrect measurements. You must give us the opportunity to adjust, repair or replace faulty or incorrect items before you can claim a refund. We are also unable to accept returns on cut lengths of fabric and we advise ordering swatches prior to ordering large quantities of fabric if you want to check colours and quality.
