The Famous Five
Hibernian Football Club are well known for having a golden period during the 1940’s and 1950’s when they were at the peak of their success. None of this would have been possible without the ‘famous five’ - Gordon Smith, Bobby Johnstone, Lawrie Reilly, Eddie Turnbull and Willie Ormond. They were the forward line during this time and won the Scottish League Championship three times between 1948 and 1952. If you know Scottish Football, you will have definitely heard of these guys and know the story of their legacy. Lawrie Reilly is the second hibernian goalscorer of all time with a total of 238 and in top position is Gordon Smith with a total of 303. Gordon Smith is also top of the all-time appearances list for the club with a whopping 636 appearances.
