The Casual Tartan Kilt is fabulous value as it is a traditionally made tartan kilt with all the usual details, made from a top quality pure wool fabric woven in Scotland. It is made with slightly less fabric than a traditional kilt (a minimum of 4 yards) and we use a lighter weight 10oz fabric, perfect for warmer climates and less formal occasions.

Why should I choose a 4 yard kilt?

    There are lots of reasons for choosing a 4 yard kilt but here are our top five reasons, according to you, our customers.

    Weight.  Some customers are looking for a kilt that weighs less than the traditional kilt.  The reasons are varied but can be about personal preference, how often the kilt is worn, weather, and the events it is worn for.

    Warmth. A kilt will come to half way down your knee cap, and woollen socks will come to almost the same point.  Particularly in a warm climate, wearing an 8 yard kilt can be very (and sometimes surprisingly) warm.  Buying a 4 yard kilt is a lovely way to wear a quality Scottish made woollen garment, without overheating yourself!

    Cost.  We make all our woollen kilts from simply the best wool fabric, woven in Scotland.  Slightly less fabric means less cost.  It does not mean shortcuts on the quality of the fabric or on the creation of your garment.

    A Trial. Many customers buy their first kilt from us and some have chosen to buy a 4 yard garment as a trial.  Everyone loves wearing the kilt, some choose to stick with the four yard kilt as it suits them perfectly, others have loved the experience so much they have come back for an 8 yard traditional, heavyweight kilt.

    Tartan Choice.  So what do you do if you can't make up your mind and love more than one tartan?  You could purchase two 4 yard kilts or one 4 yard kilt and one 8 yard kilt in different tartans.

Do I have to use 10oz fabric for my 4 yard kilt?

    No.  Most customers who opt for a 4 yard kilt choose a 10oz fabric as they need a kilt that is lighter weight or not as warm as our 6 yard or 8 yard kilts, but you can select a heavier weight tartan for your 4 yard kilt.

    Once you have selected your tartan, the drop down below will list all the different weights that tartan is available in.  Heavier weight tartans use heavier yarns, so there is a small additional cost for heavier weight tartans.

    The website will automatically calculate the cost of your kilt based on the weight of tartan you have selected.

In-stock items will be dispatched within 24 - 48 hours (weekdays only & excluding bank holidays). Approximate make-up time on Custom Made items are listed on the product page above the ‘Add to Basket’ button. If you need your items for a specific date please note this on your order within the ‘Order Notes’ section once you have added the item to your shopping basket.
 

In a hurry? Custom made items can sometimes be made up more quickly. Please note your deadline on the order and select Express Delivery. Should there be any problems meeting your deadline, our team will get in touch. There may be an express make-up fee to pay on items that need to be made up more quickly. Returns Process 

We hope you love your parcel from Scotland; however, we do understand that sometimes you might need to return or exchange items.

For stock products we have a 30 day, no quibble return policy, this also applies to sale items and in store purchases. Items must be unworn, with labels attached. Simply fill in the authorisation form here we will confirm the address for you to send it back to us.

Custom made or personalised goods are non-returnable unless the item is faulty or made to incorrect measurements. You must give us the opportunity to adjust, repair or replace faulty or incorrect items before you can claim a refund. We are also unable to accept returns on cut lengths of fabric and we advise ordering swatches prior to ordering large quantities of fabric if you want to check colours and quality.
