FAQ
What can I wear with my kilted skirt?

To complete your outfit there are a few things that would go best with your kilted skirt. One of our cashmere sweater would look fabulous, and with a variety of colours you can decide which looks best. A pair of our court shoes in a matching tartan will go perfectly with your kilted skirt. We also have a lovely selection of accessories such as bags and brooches for that finishing touch.

How do I make sure that the kilted skirt is the perfect fit for me?

If “In Stock” sizes aren’t right for you we have our “Made to Order” option where you can enter in the exact measurements. As well as this we have guides next to where you select your size. If you would prefer help from a tartan expert, we take appointments virtually and in store, where they will take your measurements for you. With a range of over 500 tartans to pick from you can make sure it is the perfect kilted skirt for you.

Is tartan a good fabric for clothing?

Yes! Our tartan fabric is 100% wool, woven in Scotland, and is the best quality fabric for your traditional tartan garments. It has a rich texture and maintains its shape perfectly due to the elasticity of the wool. Tartan allows you to have insulation as well as being breathable for warmer days. It is not machine washable, but it can be taken to the dry cleaners.

Where did tartan kilted skirts come from?

Going as far back as the 17th century women had their own style of wearing tartan. They originally would wear a “earasiad” which was draped down to the floor and usually held at the waist by a belt. As the years have passed women’s tartan clothing has progressed and now instead of being used to keep warm it is seen as a fashion statement.
