How to measure for your Tartan Jacket

To ensure that you get the perfect fit, be sure to follow our measuring tips and advice:

For the most accurate measurements, use a tailors tape measure and have a friend or family member measure for you. Ensure you have nothing in any of your pockets and that you stand tall and relaxed while getting measurements taken. All measurements should be provided in centimetres or inches.

If you require any further assistance with sizing, our tartan team will be more than happy to help - get in touch or book a measuring appointment with one of our tailoring consultants.

Jacket Measurements

Chest (A): Measure around the widest part of the chest. Ensure the tape measure is straight across the front and back of the body.

Waist (B): Measure around the body at the natural waist. Ensure the tape measure is straight across the front and back of the body.

Hips/Seat (C): Run the measuring tape measure firmly around the largest part of your hips or seat.

Height (F): Your full height

Back / Jacket Length: Measure from the nape of the neck to where you would like the garment to finish or alternatively, on an existing jacket measure from the seam where the collar meets main jacket to the bottom of the jacket

Shoulder to Shoulder: Measure across the back from shoulder point to shoulder point, following the natural curve of the back.

Sleeve Length (H): Measure from the top of the shoulder straight down the outside of the arm to the desired sleeve length. Take this measurement with your arm straight down by your side. This is ideally measured with a Jacket on for accuracy.

Mens Jacket Measuring Guide

Body measurements are always best for tailored or made to measure garments but if you need to take the measurements from an existing jacket this video shows you how. Even if you just love the fit or length of a particular jacket and want to re-order to the same measurements, we can show you how to take these from a garment. Perhaps you are buying a special gift and don’t want the recipient to know but you can sneak into their wardrobe and measure their favourite jacket.

Making your Tartan Jacket

Buying an exquisite, tailored garment created from Scottish cloth is creating a classic piece for your wardrobe that will look good for years.  Most of our jackets have a choice of button, pocket, lining and vent style making the jacket unique to you and finished with all the finest details.

How to care for your Tartan Jacket

When properly cared for your tartan jacket will last for generations. This is a pure wool fabric and should be dry cleaned only. Wool fabric can become dull with general dust and dirt, gentle brushing with a lint brush will remove this and brighten it up again. Always ensure the garment is dry before storing and kept in a garment bag to prevent moths.
