What can Tweed be used for?

    It is more typically used for tailored outdoor clothing but can also be used for interior upholstery, such as pillows and throws. Popular clothing from ScotlandShop in tweed includes kilt jackets and kilted skirts, and our tweed cap.  

What is the difference between Tweed and Tartan?

    Tweed is a thicker, more textured fabric, traditonally used outdoors and for warmth. It’s woven with more earthy, blended colours and is made from 100% wool. By contrast, tartan is a specific pattern that traditionally represents Scottish clans, although there are now many tartans that are not related to a clan. It is a much smoother fabric that is easier to drape. 

Where did Tweed come from?

    It originated in the early 18th century in Scotland and Ireland. The fabric was woven with thick wool and worn by farmers and shepherds to keep them warm in the cold and damp winters. Is Tweed Water Resistant?

    It is highly water resistant for light rain or short showers as water tends to roll off the fabric. It is not completely waterproof and will eventually soak through if worn in heavy showers. The fabric should only be air dryed and should be hung up when damp.

If you need your items for a specific date please note this on your order within the ‘Order Notes’ section once you have added the item to your shopping basket.

Should there be any problems meeting your deadline, our team will get in touch. There may be an express make-up fee to pay on items that need to be made up more quickly. Returns Process 

We hope you love your parcel from Scotland; however, we do understand that sometimes you might need to return or exchange items.

For stock products we have a 30 day, no quibble return policy, this also applies to sale items and in store purchases. Items must be unworn, with labels attached. Simply fill in the authorisation form here we will confirm the address for you to send it back to us.

Custom made or personalised goods are non-returnable unless the item is faulty or made to incorrect measurements. You must give us the opportunity to adjust, repair or replace faulty or incorrect items before you can claim a refund. We are also unable to accept returns on cut lengths of fabric and we advise ordering swatches prior to ordering large quantities of fabric if you want to check colours and quality.
