Heather Isle

Heather Isle Tartan

About the Heather Isle Tartan

The Heather Isle tartan is a predominantly heather green and purple tartan with black and white stripe. The Heather Isle Tartan has been inspired by the images of the Western Isles of Scotland, combining the ever-changing hues of the heather covered mountains, depicting the dramatic changes of their image throughout variations of the season and weather.

Did you know? The scientific name, Calluna vulgaris, in general, came from Calluna, from the Greek 'Kallune' meaning to clean or brush, as the twigs were used for making brooms and 'vulgaris' from the Latin word, meaning common. Wild species of heather flowers are usually in the purple and mauve shades as in the Heather Isle tartan.
