Baird Stories from around the world
Every month we choose a clan to celebrate, we highlight their history, castles, famous faces and an interview or two with interesting people from the clan or society. As part of our celebration we always ask clan members to share their stories with us too as we love hearing more about the lives of the modern day clan. This month we are delighted to share the story of clan Baird!
The Great Baird Return
My name is Liz Baird & I’m a Texas resident! In July of 2019, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Scotland and absolutely loved it. We’ve always kept our heritage close to us, even a few generations removed. For my birthday, I ordered some Baird pants from your shop that so happened to be randomly on sale— ended up being my exact sizing! I genuinely felt a sense of familiarity and joy being there and have plans to return soon!
Baird Weddings
My nephew got married last year in Virginia and we showed up in our Baird best.
Baird Pipers
My mother was a part of Clan Baird. My children and I wore the Baird tartan to her funeral about 4 weeks ago. I’m wearing a vest, my boys are wearing kilts, and my daughter a dress, all ordered during your recent pop up shop in Dunedin, Florida.
The Baird Adventures
In modern Scotland, the Clans aren’t what they once were but it’s still fun to meet folk with the same surname and work out how related you are (in such a small population there’s often a connection!). I suppose it’s a reminder of that shared heritage and I frequently inform people that, through John Logie Baird, our Clan invented the television! Modern Baird is my favourite tartan and is pretty difficult to beat! I love the dark blue base with the hints of heather from the green and purple lines. I’ve met friends at weddings who have picked it for a rental kilts because they don’t have any particular tartan of their own.
Baird on the Sofa
Now that July has come to an end, that certainly doesn't mean our love for Clan Baird is over, so be sure to get in touch with us if you fancy chatting all things Baird!
