Carmichael Tartan Style Inspiration
June means a new clan of the month and new style tips, and this month it’s the turn of Clan Carmichael! The soft green and blue shades of the Carmichael tartan, criss-crossed with yellow and red lend themselves to a vast array of garments and accessories, with a multitude of co-ordinating or clashing style combinations to allow you to be as bold or as subtle as you like. Today we explore a few 2022 colour and fashion trends and how to tie your Carmichael heritage in to your modern day wardrobe.
Kelly Green
Different shades of soft, pale green are the colour for 2022, so you can't go wrong with a touch of Carmichael. Green has a safe, comforting feel and green is also the colour of growth and new beginnings, so what's not to like? Muted sage green was big in 2021, and this year we have seen vibrant lime green and our favourite Kelly green, rich and bold, and found in so many of our beautiful tartans. Now that a green dress is not just for Christmas, you can create a stunning summer outfit with one of our beautiful tartan dresses, perhaps the Tartan Shirt Dress or Round Neck Tartan Dress, both perfect for weddings and garden parties.
Cerulean Blue
The other colour found in the Carmichael Ancient tartan is blue, and this shade ties in beautifully with another colour of 2022, Cerulean. Used on the catwalk to great effect by Balenciaga, Nina Ricci, Stella McCartney and Rokh, you can create your own female or male tailoring piece with a jacket in the Carmichael tartan. Pair your jacket with matching tartan trousers, or choose a plain colour to co-ordinate. Lift the stripes with red or yellow accessories to make a real statement. Radiant yellow is another 2022 trend so you will be spoilt for choice!
Varsity
When we talk men's fashion for 2022, the Varsity Jacket is at the top of the list and while we don't yet have a Tartan University here at ScotlandShop (maybe we should?) we have introduced exactly this cut of jacket to suit the more casual occasion. For your take on the classic collegiate jacket we use our heavyweight 16oz cloth which holds the shape beautifully and the larger pattern repeat really suits the Carmichael tartan. Pleats
Runways are not thought of as producing wearable trends, but this Spring/Summer the pleated skirt featured highly and we all know how much we love a pleat. While there were a few pleated minis on show, the pleated midi was Queen.
