School of ScotlandShop - Paper Weaving

With schools and nurseries shut across the country, we thought it would be fun to create the School of ScotlandShop. Maths and Science may not be our strong points, but we love history and all things Scottish. Join us over the upcoming weeks as we design new tartans, hunt for Nessie, find out about Scotland's past, and so much more! We're glad that you can join us!

Paper Weaving

We love all things woven here at ScotlandShop, and are extremely proud that all of our beautiful tartan woolen fabrics are woven right here in the Scottish Borders. If you want to find out more about how our tartan fabrics are woven then don't worry, we have a guide available!

I studied Woven textile design at Heriot-Watt University so love weaving even more than the rest of the Tartan Team! I think the easiest way to get started with weaving is with paper, you can quickly make some beautiful designs without having to go to the hassle of setting up a loom. If you have a budding weaver at home who has any questions then feel free to get in touch.

To get you started we've created a simple guide to take you through the basics.

Paper Weaving

Today marks the last day of the School term here in Scotland and although children have been at home for months, there is still a buzz of excitement at the thought of no school work for the next few weeks. The School of ScotlandShop is also going to take a summer holiday but will return with some more projects in the future so get in touch if you have any ideas you'd like us to bring to life and don't worry you can still go back and take part in all of the previous School of ScotlandShop lessons.
